Specifying cross-system collaboration strategies for implementation: a multi-site qualitative study with child welfare and behavioral health organizations

Summary: The study supports the use of cross-system collaboration to improve staffing, service access and case planning. This study identifies and describes collaboration strategies used in Ohio to implement START, linking child welfare and behavioral health systems. 

 

Application: This article can be useful for child welfare and mental health systems leaders and TA sites as it provides a State example of cross-system collaboration. Ohio START requires child welfare agencies to partner with local behavioral health organizations, but the strategies used for collaboration can vary. This study lays the groundwork for future research on improving cross-system intervention implementation through effective collaboration strategies.
