This paper seeks to raise the level of awareness among mental health professionals about the
nature and importance of adoption clinical competence, heighten their desire to receive such
training, and identify different means by which the relevant knowledge and skills can be
obtained. Existing post-graduate adoption training programs are identified and described, and recommendations are offered for improving clinical services to members of the adoptive
kinship system and enhancing their awareness of and access to these services.
