Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CCBHCs) are organizations that meet federal standards for providing mental health and substance use disorder care, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. They play a crucial role in improving access to mental health services. This study examines the availability of CCBHCs over time, assessing the proportion of U.S. counties and the U.S. population within a CCBHC service area from October 2016, when the first CCBHCs were established, through June 2024.
