We know that it is vital for child welfare systems to engage families in work to cocreate new, or to improve, existing policies, services, and quality improvement (QI) activities. The Family Engagement in Systems Assessment Tool (FESAT) can be helpful for systems to complete with families as they are engaged in QI efforts.
Boston University worked with 10 States on interdisciplinary quality improvement projects and they utilized the FESAT. This paper highlights how the Colorado and Oregon teams used the tool, the resulting changes in how they engaged families as partners in their work, and their experiences in their own words.
