The Childhood Trust Events Survey is a self- or parent-reported screening tool designed to assess a child’s exposure to traumatic events. Child welfare intake workers can use this and other tools as brief mental health and trauma screening instruments. These tools help standardize the identification of mental health service needs, reducing reliance on worker discretion. Additionally, workers can use the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire to identify symptoms of mental health disorders.
