Addressing Disproportionality, Disparity, and Equity Throughout Child Welfare

Summary: This article discusses the importance of addressing disparities and the promotion of fairness in policies, practices and outcomes for children and families in the child welfare system. There is an emphasis on the need to understand and mitigate systemic biases and structural inequalities impacting underserved communities. The article outlines the need to thread equity throughout child welfare to have better outcomes for Black, AI/NA, Hispanic and Latino, and LGBTQ2s+ families and using of the intersectionality framework.
