Collaboration strategies affecting implementation of a cross-systems intervention for child welfare and substance use treatment: a mixed methods analysis

This study analyzed collaboration strategies in the implementation of Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Teams (START), an intervention integrating child welfare and substance use treatment services. The research found that while collaboration is essential, its effectiveness varies based on local context. In communities with high service needs, third-party support from behavioral health boards can compensate for low internal leadership support, whereas in areas with lower needs, strong internal leadership and high-quality communication are crucial for successful implementation.
